LTO-5 External Tape Drive

Hire Intelligence carries a large range of magnetic tape devices including the LTO-5 External Tape Drive. This drive will suit rental applications looking to either work with existing LTO media or to move large amounts of data to easily portable and robust LTO-5 tapes which, when stored correctly, will maintain data integrity for 15-30 years.

The LTO-5 External Tape Drive is able to store 1.5TB of uncompressed data on each tape and up to 3TB when data is compressed and is able to read and write data at up to 140MB per second allowing a full tape to be read or written in under 3 hours – extremely quick when compared to other magnetic tape technologies. Also useful is the integrated RFID tape ID system. Each tape cartridge is equipped with a programmable RFID tag which enables easy identification of individual tapes and tape sets, simplifying restore processes and individual file locations in backup scenarios.

Connectivity is via Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) and each LTO-5 External Tape Drive is provided for rent along with a suitable cable. Also available to rent are SAS Host Bus Adapters for those with hardware lacking a suitable connection.
